Hi, I am Iris Dong, an illustrator and concept artist from Shenzhen, China. I am currently a senior student at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), majoring in Illustration.
✦ My interest in art was developed at an early age. The first inspirations were from the illustrated storybooks and the natural world. Although my works now cover a range of subjects, landscapes and creatures remain my greatest interests and my eternal source for inspiration.
✦ Since I was 15, I have been drawn to Tolkien's legendarium. I watched The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies and read the original novels. The beautiful scenes and lively characters in the films have become an important motivation for me to study art.
✦ I attended Rhode Island School of Design and studied illustration from 2022 to 2026. I was interested in almost everything, so I tried to create art in a wide variety of styles and materials (especially in the first two years). In the second half of 2024, I shifted my focus to digital illustration and began developing my own style.
✦ I plan to continue working on fantasy illustrations and concept designs after graduation. I also want to explore creating film props if I get the chance.
